Catalog note. Material / technique: copper body wired in cloisonné, cells filled with enamel; lotus scrolls on a turquoise ground; rims and cabriole legs gilt; interior plain gilt copper. Form: compact ding (tripod) censer. Dating rationale: turquoise grounds with lotus scrolls and gilt fittings are characteristic of later Qing enamel workshops (19th century); earlier Ming cloisonné often shows denser wirework and different palette hierarchies. Cultural context: enamel and fire stand apart from the quiet of stone and bamboo — hence placement in Curios, among cabinet treasures rather than on the writing table proper. The piece belongs to the mixed cabinet of curiosities that historically flanked the literati studio. Exhibition: do not burn incense in the historic bowl; show empty with soft light on the gilt.
